So this might be a bit of a ranty post, so just saying.

Over the last few days there have been network issues with Playstation Network which has prevented people from logging in and playing multiplayer content. Today I happened to make the mistake to go and read some of the comments on the @AskPlaystation twitter account after they posted that they were “working on the issue’.

I don’t know why I expected better, but the majority of the comments have people saying Sony owes them something. I saw people saying they deserved a free month of PS+ to people demanding free games. As I’m reading that all I can think of is how in the scheme of things this is just not a huge deal. Play single player, play on the computer, or heaven forbid, go outside.

Sure I want to do stuff online with my friends. I’ve been wanting to play some GTA 5 online for a couple days now but I’m not crying because I can’t. I just get on my PC and play something or read a book. I even went out and spent time with my family for the holidays.

Reading the comments makes me wonder what the heck is wrong with people that they think they deserve free stuff because they got their feelings hurt. Maybe they could be doing a better job of updating their status, or get their services back up, but I figure they’re actively working on it. Most of the people complaining probably don’t understand what all is involved in what their technicians have to do. It’s not just flipping a switch or rebooting a server. If you think that’s all there is to fixing large scale infrastructures I’ve got some magic beans I can sell you.

So in short, Sony doesn’t owe you anything. Go read a book.
