So I’m going to do something different here and post this as directly from Aggrochat site. Keep in mind this is just my opinion. Just wanted to write something exclusively for this site.
So today Blizzard announced that they were going to be selling a new hero for Hearthstone, Magni Bronzebeard which can be used to replace Garrosh Hellscream. The new hero includes a different player picture, a new cardback, and different emotes than the standard ones that are used. To me this equates to buying a player skin, and is purely a cosmetic change. And they are charging $9.99 (US) for this.
I want to say that the price might be a bit high, but from a business prospective I understand that they have to charge so much to pay for the development and resources associated to it. This is also assuming it will be that price per each individual hero that comes out. Which if you plan to buy each one, and assuming there is 1 per current hero that will cost you roughly $90. I imagine this is going to be the way it is, not that you pay $9.99 and get all 9 heroes. I don’t feel that they are over charging for this either, like I said they do have employees to pay. I have never felt that Blizzard has charged more than they needed to for anything. You might not agree with me on that, but there are costs associated to games like this and this allows them to at least continue providing support and developing new content.
I feel that there are going to be people that are upset that this is only a cosmetic change, and up until 3 minutes ago I was one of those people. I then had a simple revelation, if they make a new hero that has a new set of class skills, that MIGHT give the appearance that players that purchase this have an advantage over someone who does not. Now I don’t think Blizzard would make a class that was simply better than any other, but it would give people something to complain about. Not that haters aren’t gonna hate or anything.
Now will I be buying these updates? Probably. I am a sucker for things like this and it will certainly add variety to the game. Plus you know, there is the card back. I might not get them all, but I’ll get a couple of them. Mainly the ones I like using (Jaina, Uther, Valeera) when they come out.
Also, just keep in mind this is pretty much a reactionary post, and my opinion is my own and not necessarily shared by the other people that post on Aggrochat.
