On Communicating With Readers

So today is day 23 of Blaugust and I’ve managed to make it this far. Just another few days to go. Like most people I think I’ve just about run dry on ideas, so I’m turning again to a writing prompt to get through the day.

Many bloggers communicate with our readers more through social media than through the comments on our actual blog these days. What is your favorite way to communicate with your readers?

I would say this isn’t something I have to deal with very often because I don’t get a lot of comments, which I’m okay with. I think I’ve had the most comments over the last month than any point in time prior. The question at hand though is what is my favorite way to communicate with readers. I’d have to say that my answer would be twitter because this is the social platform I’m on the most. Unless I’m really busy I tend to check it every hour or so to see what’s been going on.

I have started checking for comments on the blog a bit more often, but that is mainly because I’m logging in daily to write posts. I don’t have it set up to send me emails when a new comment is written so I have to manually check every so often to see if there are any. So if your comment goes in to awaiting approval and it takes me a while to get to it just give it a little while. I’ll switch my settings back to notify me. However, if you comment on twitter I’ll be more likely to see it.

I’m not sure how other people handle checking for comments, I just get busy during the day cause of work and don’t always get around to checking. Weekends/Evenings are a bit spottier because I don’t get on the computer much on the weekends. When you sit in front of a computer 8+ hours a day 5 days a week it makes me tend to avoid it when I’m at home.

So, anyways, this is a short post. Less than 500 words. The short version is that the best way to reach me would be over on Twitter, or Anook if it would be over 140 characters.
