So a couple weeks ago I mentioned that I had bought tickets to PAX South and reserved my hotel for the event. While doing this I had thought about how much walking/standing around that I’ll wind up doing and that if I want to not be suffering the entire time I needed to get my body ready for the stress.
So that leads to the last couple of weeks at the gym, where I have decided that I should go as often as I can and walk a minimum of 9 miles per week. Last week I hit my 9 doing 3 miles a day. This meant I went to the gym 4 times last week, 3 of which were for walking plus my regular weight lifting night with one of my friends. I had wanted to get to 12 miles, but when Friday evening rolled around I just didn’t have it in me to do any walking.
The problem last week was that I was not exactly eating the best food for dinner, which is usually a problem for me anyways. I can generally manage at least a mostly healthy lunch, but dinner has always been problematic for me. I am not a very good cook, and the things I can make without a cookbook are very limited. Most nights I just want to go home and veg out on the couch which means I usually just get something on the way home. This really does defeat the purpose of going to the gym, depending on what you get I guess.
So this week I am trying something new. I went to the store this weekend and picked up some healthy snacks and stuff to cook dinner. I’ve told myself that I have to make my own dinner, even it just comes down to making scrambled eggs. I made a chicken dish Sunday night and will finish the leftovers today, and trying to just not over do the eating in general. I also upped my treadmill goal last night to do 4 miles instead of 3 which as of writing this I am severely regretting.
I really don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep this up, but it also works in to my overall goals of getting healthier and losing weight. If I can do it long enough that it becomes habit then it won’t feel like such a chore to do. In the end I just want to be able to walk around PAX for a couple days without having to take a lot of breaks. I’m also hoping that by the time it comes around I’ll have hit my first weight goal of losing 60 pounds this year. Last time I checked I was at a net loss of about 30, but that was a couple weeks ago (overall I think I’ve list 50 pounds in the last few years so I’m getting a bit ambitious).
