So as most weekends do this past one went by pretty quick. As usual I really didn’t get anything accomplished, unless you count watching movies and playing games as getting things accomplished. This weekend consisted of three games, and six movies.
Game wise I tried playing some more Destiny, and continue to struggle with it now that I’m at the “farming” stage of the game. Maybe it’s me but I really don’t feel like I enjoy farming in this game. Not really much to this as I probably only played it for an hour or two all weekend. I’m just having a hard time with the game. I feel like it could be much better than it is, and maybe my lack of enjoyment comes from only being able to do the solo content.
The second game is Assassins Creed Unity. I want to play through the story again before starting up Assassins Creed Syndicate which comes out soon. I think it comes out this week, but I don’t think I’d get my copy in the mail until some time next week. The problem I’m having with Unity is that after putting the disc in I had a very large update file that I had to download and now the game feels buggier than it did when it first came out. At the very least I’m having serious framerate issues and some laughable visual glitches. Nothing that breaks the game or anything but I don’t remember having these problems before.
The last game that I played was a little bit of Super Mario Maker. I didn’t really play this much though, just ran through some 100 Mario challenges and spent some time trying to clear challenging levels. I wish I had a way to capture the gameplay to include but I can’t afford to get one of those fancy capture devices right now.
Movie wise I wound up doing three movies a day between Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I watched the newer James Bond movies (Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Skyfall). I would have to say I still think Quantum of Solace is the weakest of the three. I’m not sure which of the other two I feel is the best one of the three, but I’ve always been a bit partial to Casino Royale. The idea here was just to get them all re-watched before SPECTRE comes out, and while I didn’t need to watch them all at one time that’s just how I do things.
Sunday I got around to watching the 2014 reboot of the Robocop series and to be honest I rather enjoyed it. I had not heard anything good about the movie, but I noticed it was on Hulu and decided I could give it a shot. I didn’t think it would be any worse than the Transformers or Ninja Turtles movies I watched last week. Personally I thought it was a decent movie. It starts off a bit slow, but most origin stories do as they have to spend a good amount of time setting up the character. I’m not saying I’m going to go out and buy the movie, but I’d probably watch it again sometime.
The last two movies were the last of the Harry Potter films, Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2. I would have to say out of all the movies that they did, these two were the best. I wish that they had split up some of the other movies like they did to this one, or at least the last few as they were pretty hefty novels. The only problem I had was not with the movies but all the emotions that popped up while I was watching them. I won’t get in to this again, as I brought it up on twitter already, but there is a certain part in the latter part of part 2 that brought up some things and made me a little sad.
As to this week I imagine most of my evenings will be trying to get through Unity. I think I’m just about half way through the story already and could have gotten farther if I hadn’t stopped to watch all the movies I did. This weekends movies will probably be Jurassic Park and Jurassic World (skipping the other two Park movies). I believe Jurassic World comes out on Blu-Ray this week so I’ll pick that up one day on the way home.
I also really need to find some time or motivation to play something on the computer. It’s been awhile since I’ve been on voicechat to talk with people there.
