On Weekend Roundup

This weekend, like most, went by pretty quickly. I’m currently sitting at my desk at work dreading actually starting my day (thanks a lot upcoming 5 hour meeting). So here’s a quick run down for the weekend.

On Weekend Roundup

Friday afternoon my copy of Assassins Creed Syndicate came in the mail so every minute after that was spent counting down the time left before I could go home and play. I was expecting a day one patch because that’s just a thing I expect now, even if I really shouldn’t. Most games have a hefty patch but this one seemed pretty small. I didn’t check the download size because by the time I put the disc in and came back a couple minutes later it was already done, so it couldn’t have been that big of a download. So most of my weekend was spent playing this, and right now I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Once I’m finished with it I’ll write up a lengthier review, but in short I like it a lot. I enjoyed Unity, but this one seems a lot better to me.

Saturday I was supposed to go see “The Martian” with my dad. So I drive down to meet him at the theater we were going to see it at, he pays for tickets and concession stand food for both of us and we go sit down in the room that our showing was going to be in. We were pretty early so between the two of us we went through the popcorn pretty quickly so I went to get a refill. When I get back the manager is going in and it turns out that the projector was broken and they didn’t know when it was going to get fixed. They did give out refunds but the trip was a bust since we didn’t get to see the movie. Wound up going to my dads house for dinner and while waiting on that watching Mad Max 2 and some crazy conspiracy theorist “documentary” about Nasa cover-ups. Literally the most tin-foil hat piece of crap I’ve ever watched. But I let my dad pick and he wanted to watch it to see what it was about.

Last night I watched Jurassic Park and Jurassic World (I will never again watch Jurassic Park 2 or 3 again). I had seen Jurassic World recently and was trying to decide which of the two was a better movie. Honestly I think the original is still the best. There is something to be said about practical effects over tons of CG stuff. There were definitely better performances by the child actors in the original versus the ones in Jurassic World. Thinking over it after the movie was over I see a lot of the original concepts in the new one, and certainly things that happened in the book versus the original movie were in some ways portrayed here. I’m sure there are plenty of articles already going in detail and I can’t really talk about it without spoilers. I did enjoy both movies and the new one certainly is the second best.

But mostly the weekend was playing Assassins Creed. There is a lot to do and I have to get everything done by November 10th when I should be getting my PIP-Boy edition of Fallout 4 in the mail.
