AggroChat #85 – Shoot First Quickload Later

aggrochat85

This week was originally going to be our Fallout 4 halfway point show, however we realized that neither Ashgar nor Belghast have even touched the main storyline.  While Ashgar has the excuse of travel…  Bel is nearly level 20 and still has yet to go to Diamond City.  So instead we opted to do an old fashioned roundtable show, where we talk about what everyone has been playing.

The games we talk about this week…

  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • Downwell
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy VI
  • Mini Metro
  • Final Fantasy XIV
  • Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon
  • Wildstar
  • World of Warcraft
  • Final Fantasy Pet Battles
  • Cybele
  • Cradle
  • EVE

IntPiPoMo: Sense of Community

Hi friends! I just got back into town this weekend so I’ve fallen behind a bit in posting for IntPiPoMo. I did get back in time to attend Thaydfest this weekend though! For the uninitiated, Thaydfest is an amazing community-run event in WildStar with trivia, games, prizes, and tons of fun. Major thanks to Black Dagger Society for organizing, and the folks at Quantum State Radio for DJing!

IntPiPoMo 35. Thaydfest Costume Contest Winners

I managed to log in just in time to participate in the costume contest, and ended up taking home the prize for Best Female Costume! The pictures I took all ended up looking bad because it happened to be nighttime in Thayd.

IntPiPoMo 36. Winner!

Here’s a better shot of my costume in daylight. The parrot has a bad habit of flying upside down.

IntPiPoMo 37. WildBall!

After the costumes and a raffle, it was time for WildBall! This is all amazingly hand created by Katia (who also has an awesome housing addon – go get it right now if you’re interested in housing in WildStar). It was a really great feeling to hang out and watch the game and know that the entire event, all the way down to building the stadium, was all player-created. WildStar might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I have never been part of such an amazing community in any other MMO I’ve played.

IntPiPoMo 38. Chaos in Combat. Don’t mind my cluttered UI

In another side of the community, I’ve been lamenting that Entity and Entity-2 haven’t been merged back together yet. However when I logged in to my Medic on E-2 last night I had no trouble getting a world boss group to kill Metal Maw and take care of the daily contract.

IntPiPoMo 39. Metal Maw before the chaos.

I’m looking forward to having my medic on Entity, and being able to bring her into my guild, but at least she’s not lonely over on E-2. Too bad the folks over there couldn’t participate in Thaydfest (without transferring or rerolling) though.

AggroChat #84 – Stealth Luck Cheats

AggroChat84

This week we have a bit of a change in the show.  When we started compiling the list of what we wanted to talk about, it turned out that for the most part they were broader subjects rather than individual game specific ones.  As a result we ended up pushing aside talking about specific games because in those four topics we felt like we had more than a show’s worth.  The end result was us talking about “things” for an hour and a half and I think one of the more interesting shows we have recorded to date.

The topics we discussed

  • Stealth as a game mechanic…  particularly forced stealth versus optional stealth
  • The role of Luck in Board Games and why it is often times frustrating
  • Video Games as a Common Ground when meeting new people
  • Cheating in Video Games to improve your enjoyment

Each of the topics ends up being a pretty lengthy discussion.  Next week we will likely return to the standard way of talking about individual games, but this week…  we were topic focused!

AggroChat #83 – After the Bomb

AggroChat83_sm

We talk about raiding, and get nostalgic about point and click adventure games.  Additionally there has been one game that all of us have been playing this week… and even though it is the game of the month there is no way we could stop from talking about it as well.  That’s right we start digging into Fallout 4 and all of the different ways we have been playing it.  We are keeping it largely spoiler free and talking more about the mechanics and exploration of the game.

Subjects we talked about…

  • Wildstar Raiding
  • General MMO Raiding
  • Wildstar Runes
  • Time Travelling Games
  • EvoLand
  • Day of the Tentacle
  • Point and Click Adventure Games
  • Sam and Max
  • Full Throttle
  • King’s Quest
  • Quest for Glory
  • Grim Fandango
  • Fallout
  • Baldur’s Gate
  • Fallout 4
