We start the show with some discussion about Path of Exile launching the new Crucible league…  and how the seasonal mechanic is sort of awful but the gameplay state is great.  Grace talks about a game hand designed for them called Dredge.  Tam talks a bit about another city builder of a sort called Ixion that causes some rough choices.  We talk a bit about the Super Mario Bros movie and how it is way better than we expected.  Because Nintendo makes screwed-up decisions we talk about hacking the 3DS to use an unofficial storefront.  Ash talks about some disappointment about the first drop in the Battle Network Legacy Collection.  Kodra talks a bit about the series finale for Owl House and playing Burgle Bros board game.  Finally, Bel talks a bit about some of the books he has been reading.

Topics Discussed:

  • Path of Exile
    • Crucible League Start
  • Dredge
  • Ixion
  • Super Mario Bros Movie
  • Hacking the 3DS
  • Battle Network Legacy Collection
  • Owl House Series Finale

This week we have a wide number of topics to discuss starting with the Nintendo Direct from March 8th and the fake out announcement of Smash Brothers.  We talk a bit about Monster Hunter 4U and Generations and why maybe one is a better starting place in the series than the other. Generally speaking when I think we have a short show…  we end up recording a two hour long epic of nuance and random commentary.  This is not one of those situations.  We are still very much in a Monster Hunter shaped hole that may or may not be the footprint of the monster we are tracking.  That said we do talk a bit about DragonQuest Builders on the Switch and Radiant Historia on the 3DS.  However like clockwork we did in fact dig right back into the Monster Hunter goodness as we somehow managed to get Thalen to buy into this nonsense as well.

Topics Discussed:

  • DragonQuest Builders
  • Radiant Historia
  • Monster Hunter World

Tonight we talk about our general feelings about the Nintendo Switch and how for most of us it is not in the realm of the day one purchase.  We talk about our track records with Nintendo Consoles in general as well.  Belghast talks about the game formerly known as “Game 4” and now called Pit People from The Behmoth.  Tam talks about Event[0] an alternate history game as told through the terminal screen of a Trash 80.  Bel talks a bit about his experiences with the Wrath of the Machine raid and the Outbreak Prime quest.  Finally we all get wrapped up in a sequence of discussions about MMO games…  namely how they are bad at directing new players to new content.  This then spawns a conversation about the trend of open world games also for some reason forcing open world pvp.  Lastly we get into a discussion about our general desires for MMO housing systems.

Topics: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Consoles, Pit People, Event[0], Destiny Wrath of the Machine Raid, MMOs are Bad at Returning Players, Forcing PVP in otherwise PVE games, MMO Housing Systems
